I'd like to update the CoO for "Land of Plenty", but there appear to be multiple production companies located in different countries. Reverse Angle is listed first and it is from Germany, while InDigEnt appears to be from the US. Wikipedia thinks it's an American film and IMDB lists the countries as USA, Germany and Canada.

Here's the opening credit roll, more or less.

Reverse Angle International seems to be German and InDigEnt production US, so a co-production. I'd use the first called, but many also say not to enter any CoO at co-productions.

I always choose not to enter any CoO for international co-productions, since any entry is inevitably wrong/incomplete.

^^ This!

It's time we either get the possibility to enter more than one country or the option "Multi-National"
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Silence that is assuming that COO is viewed as critical data. Personally I find it interesting but certainly not critical.

Yupp,
and other users don't think it's necessary that the credits in DVDProfiler mirror the actual data of the feature credits and therefore prefer to import the data of more or less obscure sources.

I for one don't like incorrect data, no matter in which datafield.

There are pieces of data we collect now that I don't personally find any interest in ... most of the Sound crew, for instance.  When I'm auditing credits I still include them, however, because there are others who find that valuable data.  Me, I'm like, eh, whatever.  I personally don't give a fig who the "Sound Re-Recording Mixer" was.

Being able to list the correct CoO would be very valuable to me, however.  I have a somewhat varied collection of non-US films (and deliberately so) ... and currently I have films from 19 countries that can't be listed correctly, because we don't have those CoOs to choose from (and another 3 countries in my wishlist).  I can't use the "work around" of using a country I'm not using and changing the name of that country in the program, because there are only 3 countries that we have available that I'm lacking films from.

I can see that anyone who doesn't collect many non US or UK films would not have much interest in the field.  However, one should always assume that your trash is another man's treasure (I do that with the Sound credits).

A true fix to the CoO problem has to come from Ken.  Since the CoO field and the Locality field are currently tied together, the only way to get a new CoO is to have all the info to get Ken to add a new Locality.  What needs to happen is for these fields to get untied so that all needed CoOs could be added, as well as an option for "Multi-National"

Can you explain that statement? I was under the impression that both fields can be filled in independently of each other. Locality may be related to Region, but CoO is completely separate (as it should be, even in Region 1 US they may release a movie that is originally from Uzbekistan).

I agree though that more options or a free field (like genres) would be welcome.

What I mean, is that for Ken to add a new Country of Origin, he also adds a new Locality.  If you look, all the Localities available are also all the CoOs available.  Somehow these fields are tied together (I'm not a programmer, so I don't know how).  Yes, you can fill them out separately - but if Ken adds a new CoO it also adds a new Locality.  That's what I mean.

It looks like these are two independent lists, that just happen to be the same for convenience.

That does not always makes sense. You can't buy a BD in Former Soviet Union, but it may very well be the CoO of a movie.
