You can download another profile of the same film from the database. I try and find one that has as much data as possible.

Then, go to the top of the page of DVDP > DVD > Change UPC to the one you own.

You might have to Change the locality also depending on which profile you uploaded.

This will save you lots of typing but after you have done this you will need to update and change any information that does not match the DVD you actually own.

If there isn't a film in the database that doesn't match yours then you will need to contribute an entirely new profile.

You can't fix an incorrect UPC in the system (a flaw, albeit a minor one, in the system in my opinion). All you can do is submit a brand new profile with the correct UPC (do as was suggested and simply change the UPC of the one already in your local because I'm assuming you've already entered all the information into it and submit that, it will make your life so much easier then starting from scratch).

If the other profile REALLY does have an incorrect UPC (are you sure that's not a valid UPC and you just happened to get a different UPC?) you can change the title to something along the lines of "Screeners! This Profile Has Incorrect UPC! Please Delete From System!" and submit it and hope the screeners then remove it from the system.

While this is certainly true in theory, what is done in practice is another beast altogether. I used to run the Entertainment dept for my local Target (and still do it on a part time basis for the discount  ) and I've seen many instances where product has arrived with Wal-Mart stickers (most often) or Best Buy stickers (rarely).  I'm sure Wal-Mart and Best Buy experience the same thing, but it may not be as noticeable to them since Target almost never stickers the product.

I agree that "incorrect" UPC's should not be removed too hastily. Companies change UPC's for a product for almost no reason at all, while others unfortunately re-use old UPC's for a complete makeover or even completely different products.

That being said, there is definitely a lot of garbage in the database. Look for profiles with almost no data. The first thing you find are profiles without a release date, which you can notice already in the download list. Of course not all of those are wrong, but if you quickly want to find some examples, look there.

But any removal needs to be looked at carefully, and without further indications or evidence I would not even put it up for a vote in case the few users who may own such a badly filled-in profile are not paying attention.
