I've been having problems with the Collection Numbers.

No matter what combination I check in the "Renumbering" dialogue, either collection numbers are left blank (I've checked -- those profiles are not marked "Do not number") or if altering the settings DVDP will actually create duplicate numbers.

I have about 800 numbered titles (~1500 discs total) and using the renumber feature it always wants to renumber around 400 titles.

Also, I always set the numbering to be "by purchase date" but the results are inconsistent (and I have spot checked items grossly out of sequence).

I've tried the Database Repair utility several times to no avail.

Thoughts or suggestions?

Just to be sure, you work with this setting:
?

If yes, that should renumber the heck out of your profiles, especially if

is assured.

Only thing that comes to mind: do you have Custom Categories or just the standard "owned/ordered/wishlist"?

Thank you both.

I've been careful with the "Count As" and with some testing I'm pretty sure that's not an issue.

Mithi,

The setting you suggest is the one I use (I've tweaked it with "Partial Reassignment" -- in both cases leaving blank "Assign where set to none").

I do have one custom category that shares the same numbering.  I've played with that collection checked and unchecked.

Just now I renumbered with both collections checked.  A quick perusal of the results shows:

Nothing numbered below 18 (I've un-nested to be sure).

Also, something that doesn't bother me:  when sorting by purchase date I see a few idiosyncrasies, mostly where multiple purchases were made the same day (the sequence is largely right, but sometimes a bit scattershot [e.g., 952, 948, 949, 950, 951, 947]).

So that shouldn't be any problem either ... color me confused.

Now we are entering the Try-out-zone (cue music)
1) end Profiler and directly run the DVDProDBRepair.exe in the DVD Profiler folder. Shouldn't make any difference, but I've seen stranger things.
2) make a complete backup, go File -> Open Database and create a new database and restore the backup there and see what happens.
3) If you want: make a Custom Backup, uncheck everything but "profiles" and send it to me or maybe better put it somewhere I can download it and I'll put it onto a testinstallation to see what happens here.

PS "I've tweaked it with "Partial Reassignment"" ... does this mean you tried both? Or just the partial? If the latter try the "Reassign all" with exactly the setting in the picture!

Mithi,

I'm glad I'm not the only one confused!

I will try these solutions tomorrow morning (I'm out the door now).  This problem has persisted for months now, so it'll wait another day.  I'll let you know if it works.  If not, yeah, I'd love if I could send you a stripped backup.  Maybe you'll see some stupid mistake I've been making all along

Oh, and thanks for getting the TZ them jammed in my head

Also, when I uncheck the other collection, it always renumbers 444 profiles.
