Any chance of just having one main cast and crew profile for each film (with alternates when required for localised voice casts) with version 4?

I think this is what Ken has hinted at in the past, and would make so much sense.

I hope we're moving towards that, though they'd have to account for differences between alternate versions of the same film.

Good idea, but hard to implement. To start such a thing, you must take the Cast and Crew from somewhere, but which is the good maintained, with crosslinks, BY's and others. From my profiles I know they are good, but it would be hard to decide for each film which is the masterprofile to start with.

I thought I even saw it hinted at during the last beta phase. Makes me wonder if that is the plan for the big 4.0... (Oops, I said it.) But we'll have to be patient on that one... very patient. Very, very patient.

Do you know what I don't get?  If this is what Ken is working towards?  Why the secrecy?  Why not share with the community his vision for the program?  There are no other programs  that come close to this, and all the idea's aren't some sort of IP.  I mean, it's pretty much common sense when building a database like this to have one central source of data.  I'm not even criticizing the design, things have changed quite a bit and expanded.  Hindsight is always 20/20.

I also think that if he was more forthcoming earlier on there wouldn't have been as many issues.  Ken is  a smart guy, but he has a limited point of view, I'm sure there are many things that he would go back and do some things differently while coding for 3.9.  I just don't get why he doesn't involve us more.  In the end it's his company and his product, I"m happy that he is continuing making improvements.
