Some people REALLY don't read the contribution rules or check the profile before blindly contributing their entire collection to the database. I already found dozens of entries that have wrong localities or invalid upcs.

And so here we go again with marking them for deletion. Is there any way to warn every new premium user, after installing or registration, to check and possibly double check before contributing?

Just wanted to get that off my chest. Here's Tom with the weather...

From what I have noticed, you cannot upload profiles with invalid UPC codes, the program doesn't allow it. You can't even enter invalid UPC codes into Profiler.

With the conversion to 3.0, the invalid barcodes were converted to a 'correct' barcode (using a check digit).

For instance: 712626027765 (a made up upc for Star Wars episode VI) was converted to 1-712626027765.

It is definitely possible to do.

If I'm setting up a pre-release for which I don't yet have a barcode I tend to enter them into my personal db using 12345 or such like and 3.0 accepts them just fine... You can also upload them into your personal online db.  As for contributing them, I don't know as I haven't tried (It gets changed as soon as I find the correct EAN/UPC), nor do I wish to attempt it!

For me, I was correcting the UPC's that did not convert, and if I had one number wrong, DVDP said it was an incorrect UPC code.
